Frederick “Fred” John Moegenberg

April 15, 1960 — February 25, 2020

Frederick "Fred" John Moegenberg, resident of Columbia, passed away on February 25, 2020 at a local hospital. He was 59 years old. A celebration of life will be held at 5:00 pm Saturday, February 29, 2020 at his daughter's house, 123 Camberly Court, Dothan, AL 36301. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation in his honor. Fred was born on April 15, 1960 in Portsmouth, VA where he would spend his childhood. He later graduated from Cradock High School. During his time in Virginia, Fred enjoyed fishing with his family off the pier at Virginia Beach. After high school, Fred started his career in truck driving and would be a truck driver for different companies throughout his life. His career took him to many places over the years including a brief stay in Florida, then ultimately settling down in Columbia for the past 20 years. When he wasn't on the road, Fred could be found spending time with his family and his fur babies. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. Fred is preceded in death by his mother, Katherine Buckhannon, and his sister Linda Sue Moegenberg. Fred is survived by his loving wife, Janice Moegenberg; his daughters, Ashley (Robert) Braswell, Missy Harris (Tad Herring) and Crystal Lee; his grandchildren, Austin Fulton, MaKenzie Fulton, Dylan Braswell, Jared Harris and Kayla Lee; his father, Roger Buckhannon; his brother, Bruce (Cindy) Moegenberg; his sister, Barbara Ann Horne; his fur babies; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at 5:00 pm Saturday, February 29, 2020 at his daughter's house, 123 Camberly Court, Dothan, AL 36301. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the National Kidney Foundation in his honor.
