Frederick L. Walton, 86, of Enterprise died Sunday, April 10, 2011 at his residence.
rnServices will be 10 am Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home. Military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. rnMr. Walton was born February 24, 1925 in Lewisburg, WV and lived there the early part of his life. He joined the CCC at age 16 and later joined the U.S. Coast Guard and served for 4 years. Following his Coast Guard service he joined the U.S. Navy and served with them for 4 years and spent an additional 18 years in the Navy Reserve. He lived in the Panama Canal Zone for 9 years and was employed as a chief engineer with the Panama Canal Co. He moved back to the U.S. and served as a chief engineer with various shipping lines until his retirement in 1986. Following his retirement he remained active working at the Charleston, SC ship yards. Mr. Walton was a 32nd Degree Mason. rnSurvivors include his wife Wilma Walton of Enterprise; sons, William Walton Lamoon of Enterprise, John D. Walton of Daleville, and Frederick L. Walton Paula of Diamondhead, MS; a grandchild Meena Hamilton Ron; a brother Cramer Walton; several nieces and nephews also survive. Burial Date: January 1, 1970Visits: 0
