Garlynda Delores Thomason

Garlynda Delores Thomason, a woman of remarkable intellect and boundless kindness, passed away on November 24, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on September 9, 1946, in Newton, Alabama, Garlynda was devoted to her family, her country, and her love of music. 

Garlynda is survived by her daughter Lori Thomason, sisters Susan Thompson (and husband David Muller), Margie McGraw, and Barbara Porter; her brother Jamie Thompson, several nieces, a nephew, and a special grand-nephew. She was predeceased by her brother Lowell “Dougin” Thompson. 

A lifelong learner, Garlynda's academic journey culminated in a Master's degree in accounting. Her career in the Civil Service as a systems accountant included service with agencies such as the US Department of Defense, US Department of Energy, US Veteran Affairs, and NASA, where she retired as a GS-15. 

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Garlynda had a passion for music. A self-taught guitarist, she loved to play and sing with her family. Garlynda will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, and her love of her family and friends. 

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to Crossroads Baptist Academy in Dothan, Alabama.

A private memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
