Gary Alan Robinson

October 22, 1969 — November 18, 2024

With profound sadness and loving memories, we announce the passing of Gary Alan Robinson Jr., known affectionately as Gary to his friends and family. He left this world on November 18, 2024, at the age of 55, in the comfort of his home in Cottonwood, Alabama. Gary was born on October 22, 1969, in Canton, Ohio, where he spent his formative years before moving to Dothan in 1981.

Gary’s life was characterized by his unwavering sense of humor, his loving nature, and his friendly demeanor. He was a beacon of laughter and joy, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. His no-filter approach to life made every moment with him genuine and memorable. Gary's interests were as lively and varied as his personality. An avid fisherman, he found solace and excitement by the water, so much so he was known for losing a few jobs because he loved fishing so much. He was also a dedicated gamer, often immersed in the virtual worlds of computer games like War Craft. Moreover, Gary was a card enthusiast, with Rummy being his game of choice. His love of the open road was evident in his passion for motorcycling, a pastime that brought him immense freedom and happiness.

Gary's love for his family was evident. He is survived by his beloved wife, Tamara Rodgers, and his sons, Jeremy Adam Robinson and Jordy Alan Robinson (Haley), daughters Brittany Nicole Martinez (Gerson Villalobos) and Kandice Turner (Donnie). He leaves behind his mother, Gayle Kowalewski. His spirit lives on through his eight grandchildren: Gage, Brycen, Brody, Deven, Jordan, Javier, Adrian, and Gabriela, Noah, Analisia, Pete. Gary's legacy is also celebrated by his surviving sister, Regina Stoddard, his aunt Robin Franklin, and the many nieces and nephews who adored their uncle. Predeceased by his father, Gary Alan Robinson Sr., Gary now joins him and his other siblings in eternal peace.

Professionally, Gary was a valued team member at Eagle Tow Truck Company, where he dedicated 14 years of service. A job he enjoyed because it allowed him to help others. His commitment to his work and the strong bonds he formed with his colleagues were a testament to his work ethic and his affable nature.

Throughout his life, Gary's heart was as open as his door, always welcoming friends and family into his home. His presence was a comfort and his laughter a remedy to all who knew him. The words that best describe Gary—funny, loving, friendly—only scratch the surface of the remarkable man he was. His good heart and love for life left an indelible mark on the lives of those he touched.

As we bid farewell to Gary, we celebrate the joy he brought into our lives and the many ways he enriched our world. His stories, his laughter, and his warmth will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Gary's journey on earth has ended, but his spirit continues to inspire and guide us.

In honoring Gary's memory, we reflect on the happiness he shared and the love he gave. His was a life well-lived, full of moments that will be treasured forever. We take solace in knowing that Gary is now at peace, having lived a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of being unapologetically himself.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held Friday, November 22, 2024 at 2pm in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends in the chapel prior to the service from 1-2pm.
