Gary Standifer

Gary Standifer, a resident of Dothan passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at his residence. He was 54.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pat Andrews officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family would like to invite friends to a meal following the services in the Sunset Reception Center.Mr. Standifer was born on February 21, 1955 in Hampton, VA and moved to Dothan in 1961. He was a 1973 graduate of Dothan High School and was employed as a Field Representative with NFIB National Federation of Independent Business. He resided in Dothan for 48 years. Gary was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Helon Standifer.Survivors include his wife Chrysta Standifer of Dothan; sons, Garon Standifer of Dothan, Paden Standifer of Dothan; a brother Greg Standifer of Franklin, TN; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Dick and Pauline Barr of Dothan; a brother-in-law Duran Barr and his wife Tammie of Dothan; three nieces and a nephew, Joshua and Laurel Standifer, Laney and Courtney Barr.The family would like to express their gratitude to Wiregrass Hospice and Gary’s special caregivers, Rosa Dickey, Murphy Jones and June Russell for their loving care and support.Serving as active pallbearers will be Wayne Standifer, Wesley Standifer, Jessup Standifer, Phil Standifer, Jonathan Markham and Kevin May. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Stuart Barron, Lee Pattillo and Jeffery Standifer. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
