Gene Baldwin

November 12, 1934 — October 15, 2012

Gene Haywood Baldwin, 77, of Ozark passed away Monday, October 15, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 6 pm Thursday October 18, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Quincey officiating and Robert Byrd directing.  The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mr. Baldwin was born November 12, 1934 at Brown’s Crossroads and lived around Dale County his entire life. He was a graduate of Carroll High School and attended Troy State University. He served in the United States Army in Korea as a Tank Commander from 1955-1956 and retired from DynCorp in 1995. Mr. Baldwin was a Mason and a Shriner. He enjoyed the land, planting pine trees and especially loved his grandchildren. Mr. Baldwin was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Gladys Baldwin and sister, Mary Helen McLean.

Survivors include his children, Gina Adams of Ozark, AL, Angie Barefield of Midland City, AL and Matt Barefield Lori of Midland City, AL; grandchildren, Cole and Hayden Adams, Ella Brooke and Allie Claire Barefield; one niece Amelia McLean O’Neil of Huntsville, AL.

Serving as pallbearers will be Matt Barefield, Dempsey Barefield, Bud Willis, Rand Snell, Jim Carr, Barry Lawrence, Yancy Shaver and Woodie Shaver.

Burial Date: January 1, 1970
