Geraldine Gilmore

Geraldine Gilmore, a resident of Dothan passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at her residence. She was 89 years old. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Bay Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Cox and Rev. Coley Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Sunset Funeral Home. Mrs. Gilmore was born in Houston County and lived the early part of her life in Wicksburg. She was a 1948 graduate of Geneva County High School in Hartford where she began her apprenticeship in cosmetology. She was a social butterfly and loved people, but her real passion was being a hairdresser, which she was still doing well into her 80's. After obtaining her license she owned and operated Vanity Beauty Shop in Hartford for over 50 years. She loved to travel and enjoyed shopping. Mrs. Gilmore served as a beauty pageant judge for many years and was a longtime member of Hartford Baptist Church until she moved to the Bay Springs Community and joined Bay Springs Baptist Church. Mrs. Gilmore was preceded in death by her parents, J.T. and Annie Maude Williams, her husband, Clyde B. Gilmore, her brother and sister-in-law, Hastel and Annie Williams, infant sister, Sarah Evelyn Williams, sister-in-law, Sara Williams, nephews, Hal Williams and Phil Williams. Survivors include her son, Bates (Linda) Gilmore; grandson, Ethan Gilmore; brother, Joe Williams; sister-in-law, Patty Gilmore; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Daughtry, Keith Howell, Chris Jones, Steve Ketchum, Jeff Thomley and Bert Woodham. Burial Date October 5, 2018 Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at Bay Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Scott Cox and Rev. Coley Holloway officiating.
