Gloria Preston Young Flournoy

Gloria Preston Young Flournoy, 66, of Midland City, passed away at a local hospital on Friday, August 5, 2016.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold A. McKissic, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.

Gloria was born June 5, 1950 to the late Maurice and Flourence Young in Dothan, AL and spent all of her life here. She graduated from Carver High School and was employed with Ansell Manufacturing for 28 years until her retirement in 2005. She was a long time watch member of Patterson Street Free Will Baptist Church. Gloria enjoyed sitting outside in her yard, tending to her beautiful array of flowers, traveling around the country, as well as shopping, and eating a variety of delicious food. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Lenny Preston Thomas.

Survivors include her husband, Stanley Jackson; her son, Brian Flournoy; her daughters, Angelia Flournoy, Amanda Flournoy, and Vickie William King Flournoy; her grandchildren, Kendall Flournoy, Keyun Flournoy, and Cody Gatewood; her sisters, Helen Bill Smith and Christine Kenny Jackson; her nephews, Kelsey, Tim, Brandon, Kenny Jr., Matthias, Micah, and Maurice; her best friend, Faye Freeman; a host of other relatives and friends.
