Gordon Eual Knight

July 27, 1938 — May 15, 2014

Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, May 18, 2014, in Sunset Memorial Park, Barrington Road, Midland City, with Reverend Woodrow Farrington officiating. Holman-Headland Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 3:50 P.M. Sunday at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joni and Friends International Disability Center, P.O. Box 3333, Agoura Hills, CA 91376, or Thru the Bible Radio Network, Dr. J. Vernon McGee, P.O. Box 7100, Pasadena, CA 91109. Mr. Knight was born and reared in Hamilton, Alabama and was a 1956 graduate of Hamilton High School. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served as a fighter pilot during the Vietnam era. Mr. Knight attended Auburn University. He formerly lived in Ball Ground, Georgia before moving to Headland in 2005. Mr. Knight was a member of the Mount Paran Church of God in Marietta, Georgia. He retired in 2011 as operator of the water treatment plant in Cumming, Georgia. In earlier years, he owned and operated Hamilton Ready Mix in Hamilton, Alabama. Mr. Knight enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and working as a handyman at his home. Surviving relatives include his wife, Nancy A. Knight, a daughter, Courtney Jones Chris, all of Headland; his mother, Olice M. Knight, Hamilton, AL; two grandchildren, Grace-Anne Jones, and Emma Caroline Jones; two sisters, Mona Vanoy Ray, McCalla, AL; and Linda Hilton Terry, Canton, GA; and a brother, Charlie Knight Elaine, Guin, Alabama. Mr. Knight was preceded in death by his father, Gordon M. Knight, and a brother, Joe Knight. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
