Graciela “Grace” Rosales Salaverria, 84, a resident of Guatemala City, Guatemala, went Home to be with the Lord on September 9, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Father Peter Wong officiating. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 4-5:30 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Grace Mama Grace was born May 25th in Guatemala City, Guatemala to Julio Rosales and Luz Salaverría. After graduating as a Teacher and from the University as a Social Worker, she devoted her career to providing love and care to those in need. She taught school for 34 years after which she volunteered and aided in various parts of the community until her last year. She was best known for her warm smiles and loving hugs, which transcended any language barrier. Her zeal for life was evident in her adventurous spirit and genuine devotion to all she met. She loved tamales, black beans, marimba music and fun, whether it be dancing or playing dominoes with friends and family until early in the morning. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her wisdom and strength will forever be imprinted on our hearts.
Grace is survived by her 2 daughters, Annabella del Rosario Noriega Rosales and Ileana Patricia Jason DeVane; 4 grandchildren, Luz Alejandra Roberto Yaeggy, Amanda Patrice Matt Fergus, Amy Nicole Paul Cochrane, and Adam Jackson Amber Marshall; 5 great-grandchildren, Jace and Jezzie Grace Fergus, Kason and Kamden Cochrane, and Baby Marshall soon to be born; 4 brothers; 2 sisters, 1 who lives in Guatemala and Aida Ward who lives in Webb, AL; several nieces and nephews who were all close to her heart.
