Harmon Benny Johnson

Harmon “Benny” Johnson of Midland City passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at his residence. He was 71.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1pm until 2 pm Sunday. At other times they will be gathering at 302 Hibiscus Circle, Midland City, AL.Mr. Johnson was born July 2, 1939 in Houston County and resided in Dothan most of his life. He was employed as a paint contractor and later as a carrier for the Dothan Eagle. Mr. Johnson was an avid fisherman and enjoyed shooting pool.Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, George “Bud” Johnson and Vitrel Martin.Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Yvonne Johnson; his son and daughter-in-law, Ben and Brandi Johnson of Dothan, his daughter and son-in-law, Angie and Michael Richter of Chipley, FL; his grandchildren, Sierra LaRosa, Tayler Forehand, Reagan Forehand, Trace Carter, Emery Carter, Gracie Richter, and Averee Johnson; his great-grandchild, Isabella Grace; his siblings, his sister, Frances Campbell and her husband Terry of Panama City, FL, his brother, George Johnson of Headland, AL, his sister, Linda Taylor of Headland, AL, and his brother-in-law, Joel Tharpe of Midland City, AL; his sister-in-law, Dorothy Moody and her husband Ronnie of North Carolina; his brother-in-law, Allen Brooks and his wife, Barbara of Bradenton, FL; several nieces and nephews also survive.Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Brian Robertson, Wayne Ward, Joe McDaniel, David Simmons, Ronnie Woodham and Charles Strawder. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
