Harold James Herring

December 6, 1950 — September 10, 2021

Harold James Herring, a resident of Dothan, AL passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at a local hospital. He was 70.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 6:00 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Reception Center. Motorcycles are encouraged and the family requests everyone to dress casually.

Harold was born on December 6, 1950 in Poughkeepsie, NY to Harold Vincent and Anna Fahlman Herring and grew up in Wappingers Falls, NY where he met his wife of 53 years. He began his career with IBM in New York, then moved to California for six years. After California, he moved back to New York where he retired in 1993. After retirement, he moved to Alabama and began working with his children at Harley-Davidson of Dothan which allowed him to ride with a lot of great people from all over. Harold was a motorcycle enthusiast who loved riding. He was a San Francisco 49er's fan, enjoyed woodworking, growing his own vegetables and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Barbara; his children, Joseph Herring and Cindy (Keith) Decker; his grandchildren, James (Kelsea) Decker, Morgan (Michael Daniels) Decker and Joseph Harold Herring; his sisters, Catherine (Ron) Calabria, Sharon (Gary) Moore, JoAnne Shafer, Regina (Simon Howes) Kuhnen and Dawn Marie (Frank) Anzalone; his nieces and nephews; and his riding buddies.
