Harold Ward Tucker, Jr.

Harold Ward Tucker Jr., 64, a resident of Dothan passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held 10am Saturday April 2, 2016 at Rehobeth Baptist Church with Rev. Chad Hixson and Rev. Travis Free officiating.  Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5pm-7pm Friday.  Flowers are being accepted or memorials donations may be made to Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank, 382 Twitchell Road, Dothan, AL 36303 or Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 3500 Blue Lake Drive, Ste 225, Birmingham, AL 35243.

Mr. Tucker was born May 6, 1951 in Atlanta, Georgia and he moved to Dothan at an early age. He was a 1969 graduate of Dothan High School and later graduated from Troy University where he received his degree in history and math.  Mr. Tucker taught school at Ashford High School before joining the United States Navy and served for 7 years as a nuclear operator on a submarine. Mr. Tucker was also employed with Farley Nuclear Plant as a reactor operator for 27 years until his retirement in 2007. Following his retirement, he became a stay at home grandfather and took care of his grandchildren for the past several years where he really enjoyed watching his grand-babies. He was an avid Civil War historian and reader, loved playing the guitar, singing, music, movies, puzzles and adult coloring.   Mr. Tucker was a member of Rehobeth Baptist Church and was also a member of the church choir.

Survivors include his wife Evelyn Tucker; his sons, Corey Lakresha Tucker and Shane Katrell Tucker; his grandchildren, Stellan, Bradyn and Clara Tucker; his brother, Randy Connie Tucker; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Gary Wanda Williams and Judy Max Smith; nieces and nephews, Adam Dawn Tucker, Alex Tucker, Brian Tiffany Williams, Jerrad Melissa Williams and Jordan Ariel Smith.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Gary Williams, Max Smith, Jordan Smith, Brian Williams, Adam Tucker and Andrew Brown.
