Retired Sergeant Frist Class Hector Luis Velazquez's life journey began June 24, 1954, in New York, New York, born to the late Eduardo Velazquez and Maria Salome Perez. He departed this life on April 22, 2019. He has confessed to Christ as his Savior. He joined the Catholic faith at an early age where he remained a member until his death. He was a Vietnam Veteran and served in the U.S. Army for approximately 22 years. After active duty from Army, he joins the Army Reserve where Upon Honorable Discharge, he was employed by the city of Dothan, and remained active in service in the US Army Reserve where he was employed on Ft. Rucker, as a supply technician, where he remained until he retired. Preceding him in death, his father, Eduardo Velazquez; two brothers, Anibal Velazquez and Jose Velazquez. He leaves to cherish his memories Wife, Mrs. Caroline Johnson-Velazquez, of Dothan, AL; A wonderful mother, Mrs. Maria Salome Perez, New York, NY; two daughters, Melissa Velazquez, of New York, NY, Sharhonda Small, Dothan, AL; three sons, Chris Bayron, of New York, NY, Deiondre Velazquez, Andalusia, AL, Aaron Velazquez, Andalusia, AL; brothers, Eddie Velazquez, New York, NY, Johnny Velazquez, Daytona, FL, 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and a very special and devoted friend, Ms. Katrina Boykin. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, April 27, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
