Helen Rice Clairmont

Helen Elizabeth Rice Clairmont, a resident of Abbeville passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at her residence.  She was 99.

Private services will be held at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Bob Taylor officiating.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Abbeville Fire and Rescue, 201 Bradley Street, Abbeville, AL  36310.

Mrs. Clairmont was born on November 29, 1915 in Fall River, Massachusetts and resided in Fairhaven, Massachusetts the early years of her life.  She married Milton Lewis Rice, Sr. in 1935 and she resided in East Freetown, Massachusetts until 1974.  Mrs. Clairmont was employed with the Freetown Lakeview School District as Cafeteria Manager from 1955-1970.  She later moved to Port Richie, Florida until returning to Carver, MA in 1996.  Mrs. Clairmont resided with her son and daughter-in-law, David and Claire Rice in Abbeville for the past 3 years.

Mrs. Clairmont was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Lewis Rice, Sr., and her son, Bradford Rice, who died as a casualty of the Korean Conflict.

Survivors include her sons, David Claire Rice, Paul Helen Rice, and Milton Rice, Jr.; her 12 grandchildren; her 26 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
