Herbert Edward Strickland

Herbert Edward Strickland, 76, of Dothan passed away Friday, October 7, 2011 at his residence.

rnMemorial services will be held 1 pm Monday, October 10, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Van Clack officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the funeral home. rnMr. Strickland was born March 8, 1935 in Attapulgus, GA and resided the early part of his life in Ft. Myers, FL and Bainbridge, GA. Prior to his graduation from West Bainbridge High School he was announcing with WMGR radio. Following his graduation he was announcing in Waycross, GA and later bought part interest in WSUZ in Palatka, FL. He later purchased WTGA in Thomaston, GA and operated it for 10 years prior to moving to Dothan where he went to work at WTVY in 1975. He later served as General Manager at WDHN for several years and also worked at Bondy’s Ford until his retirement in 1998. Mr. Strickland was a member of Heritage Baptist Church where he formerly served as a Deacon. rnSurvivors include his wife Jackie Strickland of Dothan; a son Bo Strickland; a daughter Joni Brown Tommy of Eufaula; 2 grandchildren, Thomas Brown Talace and Andrew Brown Becky; a great-grandchild Conor Brown; a brother Glenn Strickland Rosa of Tallahassee, FL; a sister Virginia Curry Hugh of Climax, GA; several nieces and nephews also survive. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
