Herman Kelley

Charles Herman Kelley, 86, a resident of Dothan passed away Thursday, November 5, 2015 at his residence.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Southside Baptist Church with Rev. Stacy Stafford, Rev. Ken Harrison, and Rev. Charles Pierce officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Kelley asked that you do something for an elderly person who needs it.

Mr. Kelley was born November 20, 1928 in Geneva County and lived there the early part of his life. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 3 years in Japan as an activity director. He owned and operated Kelley Roofing and Remodeling for 50 years until his retirement in 1996. Mr. Kelley was a grill master and avid fisherman and was the reason for the Grumpy Old Men's Fishing Club. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church where he was a part of the Foy Strickland Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Louise Croom Kelley; his brother, Page Kelley; and his sister, Beth Poe.

Survivors include his wife Nelda Kelley; his children, Steve Carol Kelley, Roger Connie Kelley, and Robyn Mark Robbins; step-children, Scott Rhonda Dorriety, Bennie Dorriety, and LaRhonda Bill Yeomans; siblings, Jack Joan Kelley, Yvonne Riley, Judy Bill Childree, and Van Peggy Kelley; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
