Hollis Wyatt Stewart

Hollis Wyatt Stewart, of Dothan, passed away on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at Extendicare following an extended illness. He was 82.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2009 in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Doug McCormick and Rev. Franklin W. Stewart officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. Mr. Stewart was born on December 18, 1926 to Oren and Versie Stewart in Hartford, Alabama and lived there the early years of his life. He was 4 years old when his family moved to Panama City, Florida where they resided until 1962. Mr. Stewart was employed with Gulf Power Company in Panama City, FL and with Smith’s Yacht Basin until he moved to Dothan. He was then employed with Smith Motor Company and Smith Used Motors until 1989 and Outlet Rental Car Sales until his recent illness. Mr. Stewart was a Veteran of the U. S. Navy and served in World War II. He attended Cross Roads Baptist Church.Survivors include his four sons, Rev. Franklin Stewart and his wife Sandi of Panama City, FL, Dwight Stewart of Dothan, AL, Dwayne Stewart and his wife Kendra of Dothan, AL, and Dennis Stewart and his wife April of Dothan, AL; his three daughters, Sarah Oliver and her husband Mitchell of Chipley, FL, Sandra Spence of Lynn Haven, FL, and Darlene Gash and her husband Larry of Decatur, Illinois; his 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; his two sisters, Charlotte Parrish and her husband Henry Leroy of Panama City, FL and Evelyn Ray and her husband Donnie of Cartersville, GA; a very special long time friend Laverne Long of Chiefland, FL. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
