Homer William Cannon, a resident of Dothan died Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at his home following a brief illness. He was 82.
Funeral services will be held 2 pm Thursday, December 2, 2010 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with Military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the services.Mr. Cannon was born December 26, 1927 in Gadsden, Florida and he lived the early years of his life in South Georgia. He joined the United States Navy and he was a veteran of the World War II and the Korean War. Mr. Cannon served more than 20 years of active military service until his retirement. He later was employed with Civil Service for 20 years and served as a computer systems analyst at the Pentagon. Mr. Cannon retired in 1973 and he moved to Dothan in 1976 to work for the Associated Press. Survivors include four sons, Noel David Cannon, Lawrenceville, GA, William Daniel Cannon, Moultrie, GA, Christopher Edward Cannon, Dothan, Wellington Vann Nes Cannon, and his wife, Leigh Ann, Dothan: two daughters, Pamela Cannon Joiner and her husband, David, Dothan, Wanda Cannon Kelley and her husband, Ronald, Dothan; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
