Homer James Curry

Homer James Curry, known affectionately to all as Homer, peacefully passed away on August 10, 2023, in Hartford, AL, at the age of 71. Born in Dothan, AL, on December 31, 1951, to the late Homer Curry and Helen Augusta Johnson McClain, Homer lived a life that was characterized by his love for family, his dedication to service, and his passion for automobiles.

In his early years, Homer served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Army. This experience instilled in him a deep sense of duty and respect for his fellow citizens. Following his military service, Homer embarked on a successful career at Dunbarton Corporation, where he worked diligently for over 20 years. His colleagues remember him as a reliable and dedicated worker, always ready to lend a hand and share a kind word.

Homer was known for his love of working on cars. His hands were rarely clean, as he was always tinkering under the hood of a vehicle or restoring a classic car to its former glory. His love for automobiles was more than just a hobby; it was a testament to his belief in the value of hard work and the satisfaction that comes from a job well done.

He was predeceased by his parents, Homer Curry and Helen Augusta Johnson McClain, and his beloved aunt, Jonnie Louisa McClain Edge. Each of them played a significant role in shaping the man Homer became, and their influence is evident in the love and respect he showed to all who knew him.

Homer's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Yet, we take comfort in knowing that his life was filled with love, joy, and purpose.
