His favorite pastime was fly fishing, a skill at which he excelled, often carving his own fly-fishing lures with meticulous detail.
The couple's family, included his sons Thomas R. Roper (Katrina), Dean Roper (Lisa), and stepson Clay Reale (Naomi). Howard's legacy continued to grow with his cherished grandchildren Atheena, Benjamin, Samantha, Trevor, Heather, Gage, and Baker, and he was blessed to see the joy of many great-grandchildren. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by several of his brothers and sisters.
