Imogene Grigsby

November 7, 1930 — February 4, 2015

Imogene Grigsby, 84, a resident of Dothan passed away Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at her granddaughter’s home in Samson, AL.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2015 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Johnny Fain and Rev. Bob Gross officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Grigsby was born November 7, 1930 in Chattanooga, TN and was raised in the Edgewood Baptist Church until her father’s death and started attending Woodland Park Baptist Church. She married the late William Curtis Grigsby on August 4, 1946 and they attended Cardiff Baptist Church. Her husband’s job with Burlington Hosiery moved them to Dillon, SC in 1958 where she graduated from Florence Beauty Academy. They moved to Puerto Rico in 1962 and finally settled in Dothan in 1966. In Dothan she worked with Inez’s Beauty Lounge until 1970 then purchased Beauty Bazaar where she enjoyed making a difference in her employees and clients lives for over 30 years. She retired in January of 2000 and according to her she “hadn’t had a well day since.” Mrs. Grigsby was a longtime member of First Baptist Church Dothan.

Survivors include her sons, Don Grigsby of Greenwood, SC, and Richard Virginia Grigsby of Dothan; a daughter-in-laws Nancy Grigsby of Greenwood, SC and Terry Grigsby of Dothan; grandchildren, Keith Sheri Grigsby of Greenwood, SC, John Eric Kristi Grigsby of Abbeville, SC, Jennifer Grigsby Sam Totten of Samson, AL, Amy Grigsby Bart Hartsfield of Birmingham, AL, Paige Peterson Bobby Keel of Slocomb, AL; 14 great-grandchildren; innumerable loving family and friends.
