Irby Franklin Jordan, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2023, in Cottonwood, Alabama, after a recent illness. Born on July 16, 1944, in Gordon, Alabama, Irby was a man of deep faith, unwavering love for his family, and an unparalleled work ethic.

Irby was the beloved husband of Deborah S. Jordan, loving father to his children, Greg (Lisa) Jordan, DeeAnna (Josh) Lowery, his stepchildren, Scott Seagle, and Rebecca Nelson, as well as 11 cherished grandchildren. Irby was also survived by his brother Paul Jordan, several nieces and nephews, and was predeceased by his parents, Thomas F. and Bonnie Harrison Jordan, and sister, Luvern Jordan.

A graduate of Ashford High School in 1962, Irby went on to serve his country in the US Navy where he trained to be a Navy pilot and served during the Vietnam War. He later earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, as well as a Theology degree from David Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. His deep faith and love of God were the guiding forces in his life and shaped the man he became.

Throughout his life, Irby was known for his incredible intelligence, photographic memory, and ability to fix anything. He worked in various industries, including laying gas pipe in Kentucky and working with Alabama Power and with Farley Nuclear Plant.

Irby's interests were centered around his work, which he considered his hobby. He was a "Jack of all Trades" and was always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need.

Irby loved his God, his family, and his country. He was a generous and thoughtful man, always putting the needs of others before his own. He found great satisfaction in using his talents to help others and improve the world around him.

Irby Franklin Jordan will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

A celebration of Irby's life will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, military honors to follow in Sunset Memorial Park's Helicopter Pavilion. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1 - 2 pm.
