Irving Boyce Champlin, Jr.

Irving Boyce Champlin, Jr., a resident of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at his residence. He was 76. Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-2 pm. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a Veterans Association of your choice. Mr. Champlin was born September 5, 1942 in Providence, Rhode Island and lived in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida the early part of his life. He joined the US Army and was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Later he became a drill instructor at Ft. Knox, KY. He went through Warrant Officer Candidate School to become an Army Aviator. He retired from active duty service with 23 years. Later he was employed with Flight Safety as a flight instructor and retired again with 22 years in 2007. Following his 2nd retirement he and his wife purchased a motorhome and spent time traveling throughout the country visiting family and friends. He was an avid reader and loved to read a good Tom Clancy novel. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Diana Champlin; son, Randy Champlin; grandchildren, Katlyn (Calvin) Jacobson and Kolby (Lanaya) Champlin; brother, Robert (Sue) Champlin; sisters, Cindy (Dennis) Snedeker and Lois (Delbert) Waybright; 4 nieces also survive. Burial Date November 18, 2018 Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, November 18, 2018 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1-2 pm. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a Veterans Association of your choice.
