Jack Russell Deloney, a resident of Dothan passed away on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at his residence after an extended illness. He was 81.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 1, 2010 at the First Baptist Church of Dothan with Dr. Johnny Fain officiating and Robert Byrd directing. Private burial services will follow at a later time. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, 300 W. Main St., Dothan, AL, 36303.Mr. Deloney was born on May 30, 1928 in Houston County and lived here the early years of his life. He was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War as a Flight Engineer having served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years. Mr. Deloney moved back to Dothan in 1971 and worked for Twitchell of Dothan for several years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dothan. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Jessie Deloney and his sister Virginia McClenney.Survivors include his wife of 58 years Joan Hayes Deloney of Dothan; daughters, Cathy Deloney of Dothan, Carrie Givens and her husband Keith of Dothan, Jackie Richard and her husband Bob of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, John Givens of Dothan, Chase Givens of Dothan, Hayes Richard of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers, John W. Deloney and his wife Clairese of Aiken, SC, Edward Deloney and his wife Esther of Dothan; a sister Sue Coe of Dothan; a brother-in-law John Hayes and his wife Wynelle of Dothan; a sister-in-law Tommie Hayes Snell of Orlando, FL; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews also survive.
