Jacqueline "Jackie" Lojohn VandeLune, a beacon of strength and love, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2024, in Dothan, AL, at the age of 93. Born on October 17, 1931, in the welcoming community of Sylva, NC, Jackie lived a life marked by dedication, resilience, and an unshakable spirit that touched the hearts of everyone she knew.
Jackie's journey took her from the scenic mountains of her birthplace to Birmingham, before coming to the warm embrace of Dothan, where she would spend her final years. Her unwavering determination was evident in her role as a single mother, raising her two beloved sons, Kelley (Sheila) VandeLune and Robert (Lynne) VandeLune. Jackie's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren, Guy VandeLune, Amy (Brent) Howell, and Patrick (Emily) VandeLune, and her adored great-grandchildren, Harris Howell and Ellis Anne Howell. She was predeceased by her grandson Jonathan VandeLune, whose memory remained close to her heart.
Throughout her life, Jackie was a pillar of strength and an embodiment of selflessness. Her career as a radiology technician in the medical field showcased her commitment to helping others and her strong work ethic. Jackie's colleagues admired her for her straightforwardness and her ability to tell it like it was, always with the best intentions.
A woman of faith, Jackie was actively involved in her community, initially as a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church and later as part of Covenant Methodist Church. Her faith was a guiding force, providing comfort and purpose that she generously shared with those around her.
Jackie's interests and hobbies were a reflection of her vibrant personality. She had a passion for bowling and was a valued member of a bowling league in Birmingham, AL, where she enjoyed both the competition and camaraderie. Her love for sports extended to her sons' activities, always encouraging and supporting them in their endeavors. In addition to watching her sons play ball, she enjoyed watching women’s softball.
Those who knew Jackie would speak of her loving nature and selfless attitude. She was a financially savvy individual, frugal by nature, which allowed her to generously share with others without a second thought. Her strong-willed character was balanced with a warm heart, always ready to provide support or share a word of wisdom.
Jackie's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of the human spirit. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend who lived her values every day. Her presence was a comforting constant, and her influence will continue to be felt by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, December 2, 2024 in Currie-Jefferson Cemetery in Hoover, AL.
