Jalane Skipper Hulsey passed into the next world to be at our Lord’s hands at DCH Regional Medical Center on Thursday December 29, 2011.
rnA memorial service celebrating Jalane’s life will be 2:00 Thursday January 5, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church of Tuscaloosa, with Rev. Luanne Sellers officiating. A reception will be held the church after the services. rnJalane was born in Dothan, Alabama on November 5th 1960 and spent the early part of life in Midland City. Later she lived in Dothan and went to Dothan High until she was transferred to the new Northview High and graduated in 1979. Her Dothan friends who went to Auburn University still loved her even though Jalane came to Tuscaloosa and graduated from The University of Alabama with a degree in advertising and marketing. She enjoyed her time with Chi Omega sorority and her sorority sisters. rnJalane loved her family, fishing, kayaking, making people laugh and a general love of people and life. She also looked forward to being a fun grandmother to her first grandchild, Colt. She loved Alabama Softball and Alabama Football. In the past she would only watch the cheerleaders and now pays good attention to all the plays and bad calls. With her in Heaven we will win the Championship because the Lord will have a hard time saying no to her. rnShe is preceded to the next life by her loving brother Marty Skipper. She loved animals so much and her dogs Tan, Lucky, Rudy, Abby and Kirby as well as her cat named Cat were waiting for her. rnJalane is survived by her husband Jimmy Hulsey, her children Shelley Scott and Taylor Scott, her extra Children Jace Hulsey and his wife Melisa and her grandson Colt Christopher Hulsey, Courtney Hulsey and Caroline Hulsey, all of Tuscaloosa. Her sister in law, Debbie Hulsey Harris of Houston Texas who introduced Jalane and Jimmy. Her loving mother Shirley Williams Leingang of Dothan, her Father, Mayor Virgil Skipper and step mother Patsy Skipper of Midland City and her stepsister Tamara Donnell of Lancaster Ca. and almost more cousins than can be counted. Nieces Heather Harris and Hillary Harris of Houston Texas, Ashley and Meredith Davis of Atlanta Ga. Also surviving are her babies/dogs Jersey and Zack as well as her parrot Ginny. rnShe had so much love for people; some of the many are the neighbors of Academy Drive and her friends at Winn Dixie. rnAn interment service will be held January 7th at Robert Byrd’s Sunset Memorial Park in Midland City Alabama, with Rev. Taylor Hodges officiating and Jalane’s lifelong friend Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm home prior to the service. rnIn lieu of flowers, she would want you to make contributions to the Humane Society of West Alabama, 3211 Main Ave. Northport, Alabama 35476.
