James Ray Cobb, 67, a resident of Dothan died Monday, March 14, 2011.
Services will be held 3 pm Thursday, March 17, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Thaxton Whiddon officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2:45 pm on Thursday at the funeral home. The family requests in lieu of flowers, food and phone calls that memorial donations be made to Wicksburg Rescue, 1460 Lee Boy Rd., Newton, AL, 36352, or to Wiregrass Hospice, 2740 Headland Ave., Dothan, AL, 36303.Mr. Cobb was born October 21, 1943 in Houston County and resided here all of his life. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was employed with Pemco for 42 years as an aircraft mechanic until his retirement in 2005. In his spare time he enjoyed growing flowers and working in the garden and yard which was always kept immaculate. Mr. Cobb also enjoyed visiting the Smokey Mountains in Tennessee. Mr. Cobb was preceded in death by his parents J.D. and Annie Cobb and his mother and father-in-law Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Bond.Survivors include his wife Marilyn Bond Cobb of Dothan; a son Glenn Cobb Cheryl of Memphis, TN; brothers, Edward Cobb Linda of Leslie, GA, Joe Cobb of Ft. Walton Beach, FL and Eugene Cobb Gwen of Slocomb, AL; a sister Melba Pullen John of Dothan; brother and sister in-law Joseph and Martha Allgood; several nieces and nephews; special friends Billy Trotter and Bobby Avera; special caregivers, Diane and Terry Maxey, Kenneth Woodham, Patsy and Larry Bond.
