James Ellis Donaldson

James Ellis Donaldson, 76, of Midland City passed away Saturday, October 12, 2013 at a local hospital.

Services will be 10 am Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Bud Donaldson and Gary Donaldson officiating. Military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 9:30-10 am prior to the service as well as following services at the funeral home.

Mr. Donaldson was born September 20, 1937 in Inman, VA and lived the early part of his life in Jefferson County, AL. He resided in Largo, FL prior to moving to Midland City 25 years ago. He was employed with Pemco as a sheet metal mechanic for 23 years prior to his retirement. He loved spending time with his family and was dedicated to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was married for 49 years to the woman he loved who preceded him in death, Margaret Donaldson. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Peggy Ruth Cook and Mary Agnes Donaldson, and his brother Gaines Donaldson.

Survivors include his children, Kevin Donaldson of Dothan, Eric Donaldson of St. Petersburg, FL, Kim Wood of Midland City, AL, and Lee Ann Phillips of Webb, AL; grandchildren, Kyle Wood, Blake Wood, Tabatha Wood, Taylor Chandler, and Kristin McCauley; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Bud Donaldson of Seattle, WA, Gary Donaldson of Birmingham, AL, and Bill Donaldson of Huntsville, AL.
