James Fred Hartzog

James Fred Hartzog, 80, of Midland City passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011 at his home.

rnFuneral services will be held Sunday 2 pm at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 4 pm until 6 pm. rnMr. Hartzog was born June 22, 1931 in Midland City, Alabama, son of the late James Frank Hartzog and Eva Ward Hartzog. He resided in Newton and Midland City all his life. He worked in the mobile home business until retiring in 1997. rnMr. Hartzog is survived by his wife, Mary G. Hartzog; five children, three sons, Wade Hartzog of Atlanta, GA, Bruce Hartzog of Midland City, AL, Terry Hartzog and wife Deanna of Midland City, AL, two daughters, Malinda Joyce Clark of Kinsey, AL and Barbara Brown of Ozark, AL; three sisters, Merle Glover of Midland City, AL, Jean Shupert and husband, Pete of Jessup, GA, and Linda Gilmore of Midland City, AL; brother-in-law, Kermit McSween of Cottonwood, AL; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. rnMr. Hartzog was preceded in death by a son, Leon Franklin Hartzog, a sister, Betty McSween, and four brothers, Tony Hartzog, Gerald Hartzog, Jimmy Frank Hartzog and Harold Hartzog. rnThe family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice for their wonderful support during their time of need.
