James Dale Green passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 2, 2025 at the age of 67.
Born on February 19, 1958 in Columbus, GA, Dale spent most of his life in the Wiregrass area. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Marine Corps and proudly served his country from 1975-1978. Most of his military career was spent in Hawaii and the Pacific Theater. Dale worked a variety of jobs that he often remembered fondly, and he retired from Century Link after 16 years of dedication and hard work. He enjoyed his retirement spending time with family, friends and his beloved chickens, as well as working in his shop with firearms and ammunition reloading. He was notorious for his love of Alabama football. Roll Tide!
Dale was preceded in death by his father, James W. Green, and his special dad, Joseph C. Hidalgo, Sr., both of whom instilled in him the values of family and hard work. He was also preceded by his brothers, Dennis George Green, Donald Jerome Green and Joseph Hidalgo Jr., his grandparents, John Bowen and Flossie Lee Hasty Bowen and his parents-in-law, Richard Layton, Sr. and Nola Layton, who loved him dearly.
Dale leaves behind his legacy of love for his family, survived by his wife, Renee Layton Green, his mother, Mary Bowen Green Hidalgo, his sister, Karen Hidalgo (Ronnie) Chavis, his sons, Jason Green and Dylan McIntryre-Green, his grandchildren, Lindsay “Finn” Green and Holden Green, his nephews and nieces, Chad Green, Aaron Green, Shannon Hulon, and Hannah Green Hinson, his brothers-in-law, Richard Layton, Jr. and Ronald Layton (April), and a host of other aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces.
