James Donald Lisenby

James Donald Lisenby, 61, of Abbeville passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at UAB hospital in Birmingham.

Funeral services will be 11 am Friday, November 22, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Gamble officiating. Burial with honors provided by the Henry County Sheriff's Department will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Lisenby was born December 3, 1951 in Dothan, AL and lived most of his life in the Henry County area. He attended Newville High School and was employed with several area law enforcement agencies including: Abbeville Police Dept, Henry County Sheriff's Dept, Henry County Corrections Dept, Headland Police Dept, and Level Plains Police Dept. He was a member of the Alabama National Guard in the early 70's. In his spare time Mr. Lisenby loved to work with horses including Quarter Horse training and anything to do with horses. He was preceded in death by his father James A. Lisenby and his step-father Rufus Tucker.

Survivors include his children, Beverly Donald Cody, Don Brandi Lisenby, and Shaina Lisenby; grandchildren, Scotty Kristy Baxter, Jonathon Cody, and Stefen Lisenby; a great-granddaughter Ireland Baxter; his mother Rebecca Tucker; sisters, Barbara Ted Guthrie, and Lisa Jerry Daniels; a special friend Elsie Farris.
