James Russell Reece

James Russell Reece, a resident of Dothan passed away on Friday, February 20, 2009 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 68.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wade Register officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24 at the funeral home.

Mr. Reece was born on March 3, 1940 in Henry County and lived there the early years of his life. He has resided in Dothan since 1961 and was employed with General Cigar / Swedish Match for the past 48 years until his retirement in 2008. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fishing with his wife at Lake Eufaula and at Ft. Gaines.

Survivors include his wife Barbara Reece of Dothan; sons, Marcus Reece and his wife Kenzarter of Dothan, Russell Reece and his wife Linda of Dothan; a daughter Bridgett Porter and her husband Cleve of Dothan; grandchildren, Lanecia Porter, Bryan Porter; a brother Willie Reece of Montgomery; sisters, Redell Relf of Dothan, Esther Stinson of Columbus, GA, Annie Ingram of Dothan; a host of nieces and nephews.
