James Ronald Evans

It is with a heavy heart that the family of James Ronald Evans shares the news of his passing. Ron, a resident of Dothan, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2017 from complications of Alzheimer's. He was 79 years old.

Ron was born on March 18, 1937 in Deatsville, Alabama to the late Percy and Mary Evans. He married Carol Jan Halcomb in August of 1955 and they relocated to Dothan in 1965 where Ron later assumed the position of General Manager at AESCO Steel. In 1976, Ron co-founded Qualico Steel in Webb, Alabama and then in 1986 he co-founded E&H Steel in Midland City, Alabama.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jan Evans; his children David (Maggie) Evans, Lakeland, FL, Donna (Brett) Heisler, Dothan, AL, Shawn Evans, Dothan, AL; his grandchildren David Evans Jr., Jonathan Mele, Ansley Evans, Austin Evans, Addison Evans, Katherine Mele and Asher Evans.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Wesley Place on Honeysuckle along with Kindred Hospice for their love and care during this time of need.

Known as Ron by many, Ronnie by few, his most cherished names were Dad and Grandaddy.
