James C. Russell, Jr., 76, of Dothan went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at a local hospital.
rnFuneral services will be held 2 pm Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Troy West and Rev. Eric Norris officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home. rnMr. Russell was born May 5, 1935 in Thomaston, GA to the late James C. Russell, Sr. and Alma Marlow Russell. He lived the early part of his life in Columbus, GA and was a Veteran of the Korean War having served in the U.S. Army. James was employed with Bibb Manufacturing Company for 36 years until his retirement in March of 1989 when he moved to Dothan. He and his wife later owned and operated A-1 Cleaning Service and worked with Northside Methodist Academy for 16 years until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of Northside Assembly of God Church and the VFW. He was preceded in death by his brother Sammy Russell and a granddaughter Rebecca Larson. rnJames is survived by his wife of 53 years Irma Nell Lee Russell of Dothan; his son Roger Linda Sellers of Boise, ID; his daughters, Charlotte Andrew Countryman of Dothan, Rhonda Jerry Newman of Dothan, Kathy Bill Larson of Houlton, ME, and Jan Sammy Whaley of Columbus, GA; his grandchildren, Christie Cliff Milbeck of Grove, OK, Danny Sellers of Calgary, Canada, Christopher Countryman of Dothan, Jimmy Angela Newman of Utah, Jennifer Tim Levey of Edmond, OK, WO William T. Jessica Larson of Ft. Riley, Kansas, Jeremy Whaley of St. Louis, MO, and Aaron Whaley of Columbus, GA; 9 great-grandchildren; his brothers, David Connie Russell, Esto, FL, Danny Marilyn Russell, Blountstown, FL, and Norman Jennie Russell, Labelle, FL; his sisters, Frances Berry of Columbus, GA, and Carolyn Mark Fagen of Savannah, GA; his step-mother Daisy Medley; his sisters-in-law, Sue Melhorn and Sandra Ivey; brothers-in-law, Mitchell Nellie Lee, Kenneth Lee, and Britt Janie Lee . rnPallbearers will be his grandsons.
