A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Dothan with Rev. Bob Gross and Rev. Josh Woodcock officiating and Sunset Funeral Home directing. Social distancing guidelines will be observed and masks worn. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church Dothan Mission Fund.
Mr. Woodcock was born on September 3, 1932 in Tulsa, OK and was a 1950 graduate of Will Rogers High School. He was awarded a baseball scholarship to and attended Oklahoma State University and later, University of Tulsa. He was a Veteran in the US Army. Mr. Woodcock was employed Chicago & Northwestern Transportation Company as an Account Executive for over 25 years in Tulsa, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh and then back in Indianapolis. He would then relocate to Dothan in 1996 where he was a faithful member of First Baptist Church, having served as an usher and on several committees. One of his most treasured memories was a fishing trip to Thunderbird Lodge on Rainey Lake in International Falls, Minnesota with his sons and grandsons. Mr. Woodcock loved being with his family and supporting them at sporting events.
Mr. Woodcock was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell Matthew and Pauline Thalman Woodcock.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Ernestine Keely Woodcock; his sons and daughters-in-law, Kirk (Kathy) Woodcock, New Palestine, IN, Kevin (Melanie) Woodcock, Dothan, AL, and Wesley (Terri) Woodcock, West Milton, OH; his grandchildren, Brittny Woodcock, Fishers, IN, Emily Woodcock (Jason) Owens, McCordsville, IN, Stacia Hazzard (Andrew) Clark, New Palestine, IN, Tyler (Delani) Woodcock, New Palestine, IN, Bethany Stevens (Matt) Fields, Duncanville, AL, Caleb Woodcock, Dothan, AL, Joshua Woodcock, Wake Forest, NC, Chandler Woodcock, West Milton, OH, and Tess Woodcock, Franklin, TN; his great grandchildren, Griffin Owens, Mason and Daniel Fields, and Kensington Clark.
