James Jimmy Seaborn Yon

September 15, 1945 — April 10, 2017

James Jimmy Seaborn Yon of Dothan, AL passed away Monday, April 10, 2017 at a local hospital. He was 71.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, April 14, 2017 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brenda Yon officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wiregrass Humane Society.

Mr. Yon was born in Houston County, AL on September 5, 1945 and lived in Dothan all his life. He graduated from Dothan High School in 1964 and served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. Mr. Yon was employed with R.C. Bottling Company and later with AAA Cooper Transportation for 42 years before retiring in 2012. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and deer hunt. He loved his family especially his children. He was a member of the Wiregrass Antique and Collectible Car Club, Gulf Coast Wrestling Reunion and Rocky Branch Holiness Church.

Survivors include his son, Shane Yon; his daughters, Cynthia (Robert) Miller, Trice (Dean Childrey) Allen and Marnie (Elizabeth Waldron) Yon; four grandchildren, Cody Yon, J.R. Henderson, Gabe Allen and Hunter Henderson; his brothers, Larry (Brenda) Yon and Woody (Alaine) Yon; a sister, Janice (Jake) Brannon; several special nieces and nephews; his co-workers at AAA Cooper Transportation; special family, Pat and Ed Pritchard, Danny and Vicky Meadows, Charlie (Beth) Brannon, Brenda Linville, Leon Brannon, Ronnie (LeeAnna) Jackson, and the Table of Knowledge at Ray's Restaurant.
