Janie A. Slaughter

Janie A. Slaughter, 75, of Dothan passed away Friday, September 30, 2011 at a local hospital.

rnFuneral services will be held 2 pm Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Wilmore officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm Thursday at the funeral home. rnMs. Slaughter was born December 7, 1935 in Knoxville, TN and lived the early part of her life in Chicago, IL. She resided in Orlando and Chipley, FL prior to moving to Dothan in 1982. She was employed with Rhodes Furniture for 17 years in sales until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church. Ms. Slaughter was preceded in death by her son Roy Ohse, Jr. rnSurvivors include her daughters, Donna Wayne Thomas of Dothan, Sandra Roy Davis of Slocomb, and Carol Germund Thomsen of Youngsville, NC; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; a brother David VanCuren; sisters, Antra Tsakiris and Melody VanCuren; several nieces and nephews also survive. rnServing as pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brent Johnson, Adam Thomas, Stephen Thomas, Michael Thomsen, Curtis Anton, and Erik Thomsen. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
