Jason Umiamaka, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Monday, November 30, 2015. He was 40.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 3, 3015 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday following the services.
Jason was born December 10, 1974 in California and lived there and in Hawaii the early years of his life. He would later live in Atlanta, Georgia and join the US Army where he served for 18 years. Jason was a Captain and completed 2 tours of duty in Iraq, he was a Blackhawk helicopter pilot, and later a Blackhawk flight instructor. He has resided in the Dothan area for the past 4 years.
Survivors include his 2 sons, Ganon and Kamai Umiamaka; his mother, Pearl Ganon and his father, Abel Umiamaka; his step-father, Steve Ganon; his half-brother, Brandon Makaawawa; his half sister, Melanie Makaawawa; and several cousins also survive.
