J.B. Holt, Jr.

J. B. Holt, Jr., a resident of Blakely, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. He was 70.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm CST on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Hilton United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to services on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hilton United Methodist Church, County Road 279 and State Highway 62, Blakely, GA 39823 or the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

Mr. Holt was born on October 29, 1946 in Raleigh, NC and lived the early years of his life there. He graduated in 1965 from Ribault High School in Jacksonville, FL and he attended St. John's River Jr. College in Palatka on a baseball scholarship. Mr. Holt lived in Orange Park, Florida before moving to Dothan in 1991 and was employed with Jim Whaley Tire Store as a Store Manager. He also worked with various tire stores in the Wiregrass area until his retirement. Mr. Holt loved to play softball, the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Mr. Holt was preceded in death by his brother B. Thomas Holt and by his father, June Holt, Sr.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Holt; his sons, Brad (Mellisa) Holt and Michael (Meredith) Smith; his 5 grandchildren, Gracie, Cooper, Cohen, Colson, and Callen; and his mother, Gloria Holt McLellan.
