Mrs. Richburg is preceded in death by her husband, Cicero Richburg. She is survived by her children, Judy Glen Bruso, Enterprise, Jane Richburg, Woodstock, Ga., Charlotte Bill Joyner, Greeley, Co., John Carol Richburg, Newton. Grandchildren Michelle Melvin Presley, Enterprise, Michael Janet Boroff, Dry Branch, GA, Chris Kim Boroff, Enterprise, Brandon Molly Joyner, Loveland, Co., Blane Jackie Brown Joyner, Steamboat Springs, Co., Barlen Courtney Joyner, Greeley, Co., Shane Candice Richburg, Pinckard, Shanda Brian Lucky, Newton, Brandi Richburg, Newton. 15 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren, as well as a nephew and several nieces and many great friends.
Mrs. Richburg was born May 28, 1926 in Newton, Alabama to John William and Pauline Balkcom Moore. She graduated from Newton High School in 1945. She married Cicero Richburg in January, 1946 after he returned from being a POW in World War II. They moved to Ohio in 1947 where they lived for the next 15 years before returning to Newton. Mrs. Richburg worked at the Newton Post Office, working her way up to Post Mistress and retiring in 1986. After retiring she worked part time at Gayfer's department store and volunteered at SAMC in Dothan. In 2001 Mrs. Richburg moved to Woodstock, Ga where she was active with a Seniors group, taking many trips and enjoying life to the fullest.
Funeral services will be held at 3pm, Saturday February 20, 2016 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andy Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Newton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2pm until 3pm prior to the services.
The family would like to extend a warm welcome to all friends to attend and celebrate Jean's life.
