Jessie Louise Daughtry Martin

June 26, 1936 — March 2, 2014

Our precious wife, mother and grandmother, Jessie Louise Daughtry Martin, moved to her Heavenly Home on Sunday March 2, 2014 surrounded by her family.

Louise was born on June 26, 1936 to the late Rev. Augustus and Bertie Daughtry in the Fairview Community of Coffee County, and graduated from Kinston High School in 1955. She married Tommy Martin on January 15, 1955, and they settled in Dothan where they raised their children. She and her husband founded Faith Tabernacle Community Church in March 1980.  She was the leader of the ladies group for many years, and a devoted Christian that loved her family and her extended church family.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her husband of 59 years, Rev. T. P. Martin; their sons, Mike Dawn Martin, Faron Martin, Phillip Michelle Martin and Joel Tracy Martin all of Dothan, AL; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister Josephine Jimmy Christmas, Webb, AL; brother Roger Daughtry, Enterprise, AL; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece and caregiver Pam Daughtry.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three sisters Hazel White, Lurline White and Myrtle Norris; nephew Glennis Wood, niece Donna Jo Windham and a special daughter-in-law Nancy Martin.

Funeral services will be 10 am Wednesday March 5, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. E. H. Haddock and Rev. Marcus Ramer officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.
