Jewel D. Phillips

Jewel D. Phillips, a resident of Ashford, passed away to be with the Lord on Monday, December 19, 2016.  She was 90.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Sister Judy Dyson and Brother Johnny Simmons.  Burial will follow in Shady Grove Church Cemetery in Pansey, AL.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7 pm, at other times the family will be at the home of Joyce and Mike Whitten, 1121 N. Broadway, Lot 7C, Ashford, AL, Rainbow Trailer Park.

Jewel Phillips was born on November 2, 1926 in Houston County and lived most of her life in the Pansey and Ashford area.

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her father and mother, Riley and Fannie Gore, her husband, J. L. Phillips, her 4 sisters, her great-granddaughter, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Survivors include her 3 sons, Leon Marie Phillips, Jimmie Polly Phillips, and Rex Phillips; her 4 daughters, Shirley Tatum, Gail James, Joyce Mike Whitten, and Sarah Richie Odom; her 16 grandchildren; her 26 great-grandchildren; her 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Serving as active pallbearers will be her grandsons, Tim Foxworth, Jimmie Phillips, Jr., Josh Phillips, James Enfinger, Steven Strength, and Richie Odom.

The family wishes to give a special thanks to Gentiva Hospice for the great love and care they gave to our mother during her time of need.
