Jimmy Crutchfield

June 2, 1945 — December 12, 2016

Jimmy Crutchfield, a resident of Dothan, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 12, 2016 at his home.  He was 71.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Friday, December 16, 2016 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Scott and Rev. Chad Hixson officiating.  Interment with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 5-7 pm.

Mr. Crutchfield was born on June 2, 1945 in Holmes County, Florida and lived the early years of his life in Akron, Ohio.  He moved back to Graceville, Florida and was a 1965 graduate of  Poplar Springs High School where he excelled playing basketball and was MVP for the Northwest Florida Conference.  He was a proud Veteran who served his country bravely in Vietnam in the US Army from 1966-1968.  He received numerous medals and accommodations for his bravery and service.  Following his service he attended Chipola College for 2 years and worked for Burford Equipment Company, Solomon's Chevrolet for 17 years, and Dothan Nissan Parts Department for 20 years and retired in 2008 as Parts Manager.  Mr. Crutchfield enjoyed working in his wood shop, making many things for his family and friends,  he loved to go fishing, was a talented pool player, and was an avid Alabama Football fan.

Mr. Crutchfield was preceded in death by his father and mother, Harvey and Thelma Peters Crutchfield and by his brother-in-law, Ferrell Shiver.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Crutchfield; his daughter, Lamonica Michael Hand; his son, Michael Hollie Crutchfield; his 3 grandchildren, Kaylan, Kourtney, and Ethan Hand; his brother, Richard Renee Crutchfield; his sister, Joan Shiver; and several nieces and nephews.
