Joann Danzey Whiters

September 25, 1950 — February 16, 2020

JoAnn Danzey Whiters, a resident of Dothan, passed away on February 16, 2020 at a local hospital. She was 69. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charles Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 11am - 1pm on Saturday. Mrs. Whiters was born September 25, 1950 in Shorterville, Alabama and resided the early years of her life there. She moved to Dothan in 1969 and was employed with Globe Motors for 10 years prior to her retirement. Mrs. Whiters was very family oriented and loyal to her family. She was a very devoted wife, mother and adored her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for her family one of their favorites was her made from scratch homemade cakes that everyone loved. She was known for being a peacemaker and the glue that held the family together. Mrs. Whiter was a woman of faith who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church. She fought the good fight and kept the faith through the struggles of life. JoAnn is survived by her devoted husband of 51 years, Sylvester Whiters; son, Steven (Cherelle) Whiters; daughter, Sonja (Jemal) Ramos; four grandchildren, Marcus Davis, Malcolm (Joy) Davis, Shaolin Whiters and Sanai Whiters; great grandchildren, Elijah Davis and Ava Marie Howard; brothers and sisters, Alvin Dale (Rosalyn) Graham, Charles Graham, Judy Nelson, Rodney (Lashara) Graham, Margia (Percell) Gregory, James Danzey, Dwight Danzey, Steve Danzey, Glenn Danzey and Cathy Green; and a host of several nieces, nephews and bonus grandchildren. Burial Date February 22, 2020 Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, February 22, 2020 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charles Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 11am - 1pm on Saturday.
