Joe B. Glass, Jr.

Joe B. Glass Jr., a resident of Signature Healthcare in Graceville, FL passed away on January 13, 2010 to be with his Lord and Savior Christ Jesus. He was 80.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2010 in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service on Friday. Joe was born on March 12, 1929 in Cedar Springs, GA. He was the oldest son born to the late Joe Glass, Sr. and Alice Fowler Glass. He was a farmer during his early years and served in the U.S. Marines and was honorably Discharged January 1947. He was married to Carolyn O. Smith on November 22, 1950 in Hilton, GA and they lived their early years in central Florida. During his life and travels he worked and was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Hasan Shrine Temple. Later he worked in construction and became a C.O.E. Telephony Installer. He traveled throughout the U.S. and Saudi Arabia. He retired and lived his later years in Headland and Dothan, AL. He was predeceased by his wife Carolyn; his oldest son, Roger of Norman, OK.; his daughters, Rhonda K. Hix and Alice C. Drake of Dothan, AL. Survivors include two sons, Randall and his wife Sandra Glass and Trey D. Glass both of Dothan, AL; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a younger brother Wilmer E. Glass, wife Lori of Shelby, OH.; Mrs. Betty Decker of Toledo, OH.; and Eleanor Beasley, husband Royce of Davenport, FL.; several nieces and nephews also survive. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
