Joe Parrish

Joe Parrish, 67 a resident of Dothan passed away surrounded by his family on Sunday January 29, 2017 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2:30 Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment with full military honors will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00pm -2:30pm Wednesday.

Joe was born July 7, 1949 in Quincy, Florida and he resided the early years of his life in Blountstown and Port St. Joe, Florida. He was a 1968 graduate of Dothan High School. Joe was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United State Army. He received several commendations including the Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal; Republic Vietnam Campaign Medal. After serving in the U.S. Army Joe graduated from Troy State University with a degree in Computer Science. He also worked as a residential draftsman for home builders and individuals for several years. Joe loved to play dominos and he would play at every opportunity with his friends. He was a member of Dothan Elks Lodge, Paralyzed Veterans Association of America, National Dusters, Quads and Search Lights Association.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Parrish; his sons, Shayne Parrish and Ethan Parrish; his daughter, Kelly (Steve) Guldin; two grandchildren, Cierra Walker and Sophie Guldin; his great-grandson, Jeffery Walker; his brothers, Jim Parrish and Larry Parrish; his sisters, Lynette New and Kathy Brignac; his best friend for 50 years, Shelly (Pejoe) Enfinger; special caregiver, Mary Johnson; several nieces and nephews.
