Joe Ben Roberson, 71, of Ozark passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 at a local hospital.

rnFuneral services will be held 2 pm Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Southside Baptist Church Ozark with Rev. Roger Stone officiating. Burial will follow in Lee Cemetery with Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6pm until 8pm Tuesday. rnMr. Roberson was born March 29, 1940 Dale County and he lived in Grimes prior to moving to Ozark in 1976. He was employed at Fort Rucker for 39 years as a aircraft mechanic prior to his retirement in 2002. He served in the United State Army National Guard for 29 years until he retired in 1990. Mr. Roberson was a mason and was preceded in death by his wife, Merrell Roberson, a daughter, Tammy Roberson, a brother, David Robinson; a sister, Frances Hilt; his parents, George and Lemma Roberson. rnSurvivors include his daughter, Sandy Roberson, Dothan; his step daughter, Diane Gayfrey Stanford, Ozark, a granddaughter, April Doug Parker, Ozark; a grandson, Hunter Roberson; 2 great-grandsons, Gavin Goss and Hayden Parker; his sister, Ann Bill Rayley, Midland City; several nieces and nephews. rnServing as active pallbearers will be Mark Rayley, Joel Rayley, Sidney Paulk, Roy Henderson, Bobby Jenkins and Ray Adkins. rnServing as honorary pallbearers will be the Ozark National Guard. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
