Joel Harold DeMayo, of Dothan, passed away on Monday January 14, 2019 at Signature Healthcare in Marianna, FL. He was 72 years old. A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating and Robert Byrd directing. Joel was born February 20, 1946 in New Haven, CT and moved to Meridan, CT for several years where he was employed as a roofing salesman. He played trombone in a jazz band called J&J Quartet while in Meridan. Joel resided in Homestead, FL for several years prior to moving to Dothan in 2003. He really enjoyed fly fishing and making stained glass. He was a member of and music minister of St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church in Homestead. In Dothan he was a member and Cantor with St. Columba Catholic church. Survivors include his wife, Lorraine DeMayo; daughters, Valentina DeMayo-Decosta and Darlene Passante; son-in-law, Kenneth Passante; grandchildren, Stevie Hughes, Nicole Frost, Garrett Ward, Justin Ward, Jocelyn Klein, and Brynn Ward; brothers, John DeMayo and Stanley DeMayo; several nieces and nephews. Burial Date January 18, 2019 A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 18, 2019 at St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating and Robert Byrd directing.
