John Preston Earnest

John Preston Earnest, age 65, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020 at the home of his sister in Midland City, Alabama. He was born on June 15, 1955 in Blakely, GA to Lester M. and Frances Bowman Earnest. He was a lifelong resident of Early County a member of Westview United Methodist Church. Mr. Earnest was a 1973 graduate of Southwest Georgia Academy ion Damascus, GA where he played on the state championship football team. He retired from both Universal Blanchers and Golden Peanut in Blakely, GA where he served as maintenance supervisor for each company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Frances Earnest and a Brother-in-law, Bob Howell. Graveside services will be held at 1 pm EST on Friday, July 3, 2020 in the Blakely Cemetery with Mr. Marvin Earnest giving the eulogy and Mr. Cliff Star offering prayer. In the event of rain, the service will be moved to Westview United Methodist Church in Blakely, GA. Survivors include his brother, Marvin Earnest and his wife, Birdie Earnest of Auburn, GA; his sister, Gwen Howell of Midland City, AL; his long-time companion, Wendy Durham of Manchester, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
